Low Bat invites Lou Blue for this new chapter of Night Travel on a Blanket, for a free-interpretation of “the myth of Prôtis and Gyptis”.

IN ENGLISH >> The myth of Prôtis and Gyptis, according to Justin’s Abrégé des Histoires Philippiques de Trogue Pompée.

Sailors from Phocéea fleeing the Persian invasion are given an oracle: they must embark westward accompanied by a guide from the temple of Artemis. It will be a woman, Aristarchus, who will join their crew, equipped with a wooden statuette of the goddess.
They disembark in the Lacydon cove (today’s Old Port) where they meet a Ligurian tribe whose chief is Nannos. On that day, the Celts organize a great feast at the end of which Gyptis, the daughter of Nannos, has to choose a husband. As a sign of friendship, the Greeks are invited to the banquet. At the end of the meal, Gyptis chooses to give the cup filled with water to Prôtis the Greek.

The king gives his blessing, and offers them the northern part of Lacydon to create a colony, the future Marseille.

This mix is a selection of some tracks published over the last 8 years running Domestica Records and it’s a good way to have an approximate idea about the essence of the label. Most of these songs were never published at that time so they were demos that we restored as carefully as possible, and the rest of the tracks were published only on tape and in very limited distribution. That’s basically what we love to do here and that’s our identity. But this mixtape it’s not only a brief look back at the work we have done; you will find as well two unreleased tracks that we are planning to publish the next year. So, basically, I took this mixtape as a celebration, not only for the work done until now but also for all the things still to come.

“It had been a strange morning…. it was normal, we had spent more than 10 days without separating not even a minute, I had not even been able to open the mails or look at my mobile …
It was like a vacation in my own house.
My birthday was approaching and many Lithuanians would come, some Spaniards too.
I was so nervous that I preferred to say goodbye to her,
I thought it was going to be a lot of people and I would have to dedicate a lot of time to them so that I couldn’t dedicate a lot of time to her..
So I took her to the station, we were a little disoriented, we didn’t even buy a ticket, we just got onto the first ubahn… on the way to Ostkreuz the controllers checked the train, she asked me – what do we do now?
But when I saw their faces I understood that it was impossible to convince them and there wasn’t much to do, and I was not in the mood to improvise something original.
We were fined 60eurs each, a bit dramatic ending.
We wasted a lot of time with the controllers who wanted to take me to the police station because I had no documents on me…
When we managed to get to Oskreuz , we realised that we had made a mistake… the right station was Südkreuz in the opposite direction.
We looked at each other with the face of being very pissed at ourselves. We tried to run to Südkreuz knowing that we would not arrive and that other controllers could stop us.
We arrived at Südkreuz, but the train had already left.
So she had to buy another ticket….
I had to work and she had to wait for the next train.
When I finished to work and got back home and she had left already—, there was no way back and now I was regretting it.
Sometimes I practice selft-sabotage, I am a professional of self-boycott in every aspect…
She didn’t even understand why we had decided to separate one day from my birthday, neither did I.
The Lithuanians arrived home, less than I expected and it was a very harmonious team, we went down to the keller and I made this set for Geográficamente perto, and this is the improvised radio show, because improvising is the only thing i can do, even if it didnt work earlier with controllers on the train, but with music is always easier.
The Lithuanians were in the keller… everything was perfect and quite relaxed, I was not nervous and that made me think more of how foolish I had been to let her go.
This is all the soundtrack that came to my head from all those beautiful days, in radio show format, my favorite format.
A cabaret of different pieces about those days, something I do not think it can bother anyone.
It won’t throw you off your homework whatever it is, it doesn’t have enough intensity to distract you from what you are doing, and this is exactly my concept of radio show.
But it’s triky, if you stop doing your stuff and pay all your attention to it you’ll find a very different format of the same result.
I hope you enjoy, here’s a piece of me.”

“A year ago I spent a few months carrying around an ugly, pink, penguin paperback book titled “The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis”. I misplaced the book for a while, and when I found it again, dusty and stained, I read through all the stories I had wanted to keep note of, some of them I can’t tell why anymore – the three I illustrate through the mix are the ones which brought back the most vivid memories.”

This November edition of Please Don’t Goa navigates ideas of comfort, the domestic, the familiar and their counterparts, dislocation and diasporic space. Presented in three parts by guests Victor De Roo, Pealing Wavs and Yves, each one contemplating these manifestations of home.

Victor’s submission captures the most conscious embodiment of familiarity of the three, where only records he discovered at 72 Records, where he works in Brussels were used for the recording. Record stores are sites of knowledge and nascent curiosity, where influences and expectation are established and disrupted, where intimidation can be assuaged by intimate cognition. Located within juxtaposition, they allow for social and solitary transactions to be simultaneously performed. Navigating through this arrangement can be a precarious matter, which Victor has articulated in his mix. It is a succinct expression of calibrating a balance between those orders and finding reconnaissance in the unknown- The shop owner’s haphazard recommendations, picking up an attractive sleeve, searching for that familiar name or instrument in the liner notes with the ambition of uncovering a new aural path. I’m glad to be congratulating Victor for his new 7″ on STROOM with FELIX POFFE under the ONZEKER name, which is an excellent release that plays with the axioms of the known/unknown of record culture and thank him for this wonderful contribution to Please Don’t Goa.

PEALING WAVs’ entry, recorded in Alicante mediates an alternative trajectory through personal transition and migratory movement, correlating to his physical relocation to London and creative reinvention as an artist. Cammi’s output has evolved through several permutations, each time expanding and deepening his musical heritage whilst consciously not relegating past endeavours to futility as is the archetypal pitfall. His self-reflexivity allows him to clearly evaluate this fusion which gives his work a prescient edge, as the affectations of his past are purposely synthesised into his present practice. Cammi’s section unveils the intimate power vulnerability can convert into through exposition of uncertain environments and how we mobilise in the advent of liminality and instability. As a frequent collaborator, peer and friend I will (as always) look forward to his future musical endeavours.

“Viaggio” is a story by Pier Luigi Tondelli’s “Other Libertines”. The importance of this story is emphasized by its central position, it is the third of the six stories in the book.
The protagonist is a young man who tells his story in the first person. It all began in the summer of 1974, after the maturity exam of the protagonist and his best friend Gigi, and ended in 1978. The physical journey for European cities is also a metaphor of the journey of formation of the protagonist in search of his identity . Young and unconscious, part from Correggio, and here he will return at the end of his story, after having understood many things about himself and his life.
