With clubs worldwide at a standstill, we ‘travel’ to NY to revisit one of the best-remembered parties and labels, Wierd.
DJ and artist Pieter Schoolwerth started Wierd as a club night in 2003, to program what he defined as “very rare” music, amalgamating 80s wave and postpunk culture.

These days it’s difficult to think of like-minded people who aren’t aware of each other. Wierd was very much about bringing together the old who were never able to be under one roof, and the new that could continue on with the same mindset that they had. It was such a small place that when the band finished you were left with one foot on the stage, and the other on the most uneven concrete floor. It was too foggy to really know how many people were there but those who made it out are still out
