Maxime Bisson revient pour un vous présenter deux figures capitales – bien que méconnues – de l’underground anglais depuis les années 1970 : Steve Beresford et David Toop.
Outre sa carrière solo, le premier a collaboré avec Adrian Sherwood, Gavin Bryars ou encore Ted Milton. Le deuxième a été une des premières signatures du label de Brian Eno, a joué avec Jon Hassell, ou encore Ryuichi Sakamoto
Ensemble ils ont été à l’origine de nombreux projets sous de très nombreux allias: Flying Lizards, General Strike, Frank Chicken…Enfin ils ont participé en 1975 à la création de la revue Musics et de l’association caritative London Musicians Collective, qui visaient à promouvoir les musiques improvisées, expérimentales sur fond de critique sociale.
Musique d’orchestre ou improvisée, jazz, punk, dub ou encore électronique : autant de qualificatifs justes, mais qui apparaissent insuffisants, voire désuets, pour qualifier les œuvres des deux musiciens.
